Gabby Williams

Gabby Williams has got every WNBA fan talking about her especially it is Finals Day (yaaaay!) Not just fans, but media outlets have been yapping nonstop about this incredibly talented player, who has been spearheading the Valkyries from the start of the season.

With all the attention on Williams right now, it may seem like the baller might struggle to deal with being in the limelight for a good amount of time. However, as someone who works to ensure that players keep their heads straight in the midst of plenty of attention and trolling from media, Williams’ attitude to this newfound positive attention was quite refreshing.

The forward was asked about her views on the media yesterday and Williams did not mince words. The baller basically reminded herself and everyone else that, “the crowd that applauds your coronation is the same crowd that will applaud your beheading,” although not in the same words.

“The media’s never respected me. I’ve never expected them to. So that’s always been in the back of my head. I’ve never paid any mind to the media, so if the media’s praising me now, I don’t care.” Gabby Williams said.

Much admiration for Gabby at this point actually! Gabby Williams might be at the receiving end of a lot of admiration now from the media, but she has not experienced this before. The player’s career went through a lot of ups and downs before she got the Valkyries as a platform to showcase her superb skills.

In this difficult journey, Williams was slapped with a variety of labels by the media, with many calling her to be an incredible mediocre player. It is clear that Williams has not forgotten these labels and the ridicule that she faced in the past. And, this level of shutting down her senses to whatever the media may say about her may be the biggest strength she brings to the Valkyries.

More than watching Gabby Williams take on the Atlanta Dream, it looks like many fans are eager to see her lock horns with Angel Reese. Both Williams and Reese have plenty to prove this Finals, mainly to announce that they indeed in the league to not just compete, but actually win.

This series is bound to be an electrifying showdown of defenses, with powerhouses like Williams and Reese leading the way for their teams. I don’t know about you, but I’ve already got my popcorn and coke ready for kick-off!
