Shedeur Sanders

Shedeur Sanders has always been a sensational player since the time he entered the NFL draft. It is clear that Deion Sanders’ oldest – and perhaps favorite – son is very eager to prove himself. Sanders got a few opportunities to showcase his skills right in his rookie year and was actually hoping to get the starter role in his sophomore season, before the Browns settled on Deshaun Watson as their QB1.

Now, with Watson being on concussion protocol, Sanders is finally getting his chance to start this weekend. Cleveland will rely on Shedeur to take the lead in the Week 9 matchup against the Saints. However, the big question is whether Sanders is actually ready to be a starting quarterback? From his latest remarks, it does not seem like Sanders has done enough homework, leaving many Browns fans worried for their team.

“Yeah, I seen a lot, when I smile just know that means something. I’m maturing, you know what I’m saying, I’m maturing, I could have gave that a decent answer but now I’m just gonna smile when it’s some questions.” Shedeur Sanders said when he was asked if he has studied the Saints defense.

See, Shedeur Sanders could have just gone ahead and reassured everyone that he has indeed studied New Orleans’ defense enough. But, he had to talk about his “smile” and how he has “matured.” It is obvious that Sanders has not learnt NOT to play heroball and take the game-plan seriously. Although Shedeur has a pretty great rapport with his locker-room, this attitude of his will make his teammates lose any trust they have on him as QB1.

Shedeur Sanders May Be Able To Get Away With A Win Against Saints

Shedeur Sanders is actually quite fortunate that his first game as starting quarterback this season is against the Saints. New Orleans are badly struggling and the Cleveland franchise will hopefully be able to finish with a solid win.

In this scenario, Sanders should technically be able to win with a large margin, and with his over-confidence, he actually might. But, the real test will come the week after when the Browns lock horns with the Houston Texans.

Fans will be able to witness for real if Sanders has actually matured by the way the quarterback handles the ball. Sanders has always had a reputation of holding on to the pigskin way too long and trying to make the game more about himself. But, if he hopes to stay as the starter for the Browns, Sanders will certainly need to recognize and tap into the potential of his teammates as soon as possible.
