Cincinnati Bengals quarterback number 9 throwing while defenders approach, AI Generated

Joe Burrow was more than ready to take the Lombardi home even before the season kicked off, with the quarterback looking like he was raring to go right from Week 1. Burrow is obviously tired of sitting and waiting for a miracle to happen, especially when he’s got too much talent and will-power to just whine and complain about how terrible the Bengals are as a team.

And now, looking at Cincinnati’s current 2-2 record with Burrow’s own issues, the signal-caller might as well be singing a completely different tune altogether. Burrow was asked about the Week 4 brutal defeat at the hands of Jags and the quarterback looked pretty happy with his team regardless of the two-game losing streak they’re going through.

“We had our opportunities in the last two weeks, but this isn’t Armageddon or anything. We’re still in a great spot (and) feel really good about our team.” Joe Burrow said.

This is clearly not the same guy who was pushing down “urgency” to his men before the season could officially take off. Joe Burrow seems to be more accepting of mistakes at this point in the season, when compared to the first two weeks.

I have to admit, I was quite worried as a sport psychologist when I heard that Burrow was entering this year with a now-or-never mentality. Perfectionism is never a great quality in sports, considering that there will be failures and athletes need to use them as lessons to do better. With a now-or-never attitude, lessons may not be readily learnt and resilience might be lost, which got me worried about Burrow and his men.

Is Joe Burrow Relaxing A Little Too Much?

This sounds pretty controversial, considering that I just said that I was a little worried with Joe Burrow’s ‘now-or-never’ mentality. But, considering that the man seems to have done a 180-degree maneuver when compared to the opener, attitude-wise, and that it is only the fourth week of football, I have to wonder if Burrow’s chill-pill was extra-large?

Burrow has already started to defend his team’s poor performance in their losing streak, with the signal-caller not showing the same aggressiveness that Cincinnati fans saw in him before this campaign could start. Perhaps Burrow hopes to take it slow and easy this year and perhaps he does not want to put his aggressiveness on display as much. Still, the following weeks will prove if Burrow has really lost his game-face or whether the guy is simply tricking the opponents into thinking he’s laying low.
