The WNBA playoffs are in full swing right now, and no matter what team you support, it is clear that this post-season has got fans like me absolutely tickled. One particular matchup which has got everyone talking is the Liberty crushing the Lynx to advance to the semifinals. Let’s take a closer look at what Stewie and the Liberty pulled off.

Breanna Stewart and the Liberty were in full-throttle this post-season, essentially chucking the Lynx out of the playoffs to create history. This is the first time that a No. 8-seeded team has defeated the top seed since the current playoff format took off back in 2022.

This obviously says plenty about not just the Liberty, but most particularly about Stewart, or ‘Stewie’ as fans popularly call her. Stewie is no stranger to participating in the playoffs, with the hooper appearing in ten playoffs in her 11 seasons. One thing that anyone can right away learn about Stewie is how consistency matters.

For Stewie personally, this says a lot about who she is, rather than what she does or who she is doing it for. The baller was asked after the Game 2 win about her thoughts on defeating Phee and her girls and her simple statement is a message that every athlete needs to take home with them and apply it in their daily lives.

“There always comes a moment in the season where it’s like: be who you are,” Breanna Stewart told The IX Sports.

Defeating the Lynx is obviously no joke and Breanna Stewart did it in style. Stewart seems to have been firing on all engines ever since her return from the World Cup win in Berlin, with this postseason win just being added proof of how great a player she actually is.

Breanna Stewart Will Be Taking On Atlanta Dream Next Up

Breanna Stewart and the Liberty will be now on their way to meet the Dream for the semifinals, which is bound to be as exciting as Round 1 against the Lynx. The Lynx were a solid team with the likes of Napheesa Collier and Olivia Miles dazzling in the roster. But, facing the Dream will be a totally different story, considering just how unfazed the franchise has been playing this whole season.

With Stewie getting ready to take on a franchise like Atlanta, it is easy for any athlete to be swept into notions that they will need to change up their game entirely. However, this can only end up damaging the style of play and slow down the pace. Instead, this is where Stewie will need to lean more in to her strengths, i.e. leaning into her consistency on both sides of the court and her clutch mentality.
